I believe that voting is the first act of building a community, as well as building a country - Former US Congressman John Ensign
We believe providing every community member with an equal vote is the foundation for a thriving community. However, we go one step further to eliminate persecution within communities, your vote is both private and secure. Furthermore, in order to engage as many citizens as possible, the act of voting is also accessible remotely via a mobile device.
We believe polling is a critical component of understanding what members of the community like and dislike, and we view participation in polling as work within the community. Since it is work, community members should be compensated for their time spent answering poll questions, which provides key data points - anonymously - about each community member. These data points are valuable for the community, as they allow the community to automate operations through technology to personalize experiences for each individual member. These experiences range from a wide variety of community activities, including those that are educational, health-related, and work-related.
We also believe voting - the act of endorsing a person, rule, project, activity, business, or credential - is one where the community member is staking his/her/their reputation on a decision that he/she/they believes is best for the community. For the time being, we believe that reputation stake should be in the form of currency. We believe that these decisions can be made within the community without central oversight, but rather through rules entered into a computer program that automate the governance of the community. Trust is built in the community through endorsements of trusted individuals and transparency into community operations.
Being adequately informed is a democratic duty, just as the vote is a democratic right. A misinformed electorate, voting without knowledge, is not a true democracy - Author Jay Griffiths
After each community member has been granted equal voting rights (and given access to the tools required to vote in a private and secure way), we believe that the next most important part of building a community is adding education communities that will allow for an informed electorate. As such, the first communities that we will look to onboard - and the first members that we will look to openly support through our grants - are those that can teach our citizens. We believe that an informed electorate is the most powerful thing in the world.
We plan to use our polling network, APoll01, to establish the first sub-community within APoll01 Nation - our Education Department, edYOU. Within edYOU, we will start to integrate key knowledge and learning systems, leveraging our voting power to determine where grant money is allocated, while also endorsing and valuing teachers, degrees, courses, lessons, and activities (to name a few). We encourage all members to be actively involved in helping to build edYOU by providing influence, money, time, and/or resources. While teachers are underappreciated and undervalued in other communities, APoll01 Nation sees them as the most valued members of the community. A community without a strong education system will crumble and fall apart. Once we have developed this layer of functionality within APoll01 Nation, we can start to shift our focus to project/task management systems that allow people with verified credentials to get matched to work within the community.
If you are an educator, we welcome you. If you are not an educator, we will teach you how to become one and provide you with the tools to teach others. Each of us has an incredible amount of knowledge to share with one another about all aspects of life. That knowledge is valuable, and we should all be fairly compensated for our role in sharing knowledge, as opposed to hoarding knowledge for ourselves in an attempt to get ahead. I have found myself as the bottleneck of knowledge many times, but now I aim to become the first teacher within APoll01 Nation - teaching all of you about why we exist and how you can deliver value by serving the community.
